FTC Approves 6th Safe-Harbor Program For Child Privacy Rule

The Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday authorized the kidSAFE Seal Program to police official children’s online privacy guidelines, creating the sixth safe-harbor provider under a set of tough, revised agency regulations.
With the FTC’s approval, kidSAFE now joins certification programs offered by TRUSTe, Privo Inc., the Children’s Advertising Review Unit of the Better Business Bureau and the Entertainment Software Rating Board as an accepted safe harbor for ensuring compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
