Naming rights for field at Memorial Stadium
While the name of Cal’s football facility will remain Memorial Stadium as it has since 1923, the playing field will soon bear the name of a company that has secured long-term naming rights. A Thursday news conference on campus is planned, according to a source with knowledge of the event.
The deal is reportedly for 15 years. Financial terms have not been disclosed. Whatever the naming rights deal is worth to Cal, it will help pay off the debt on the $321 million renovation and retrofit of Memorial Stadium, which reopened in 2012 after nearly two years’ of construction.
