City’s naming venture coming up blank so far

The City’s Tournament Capital Club Partnership Program has no members so far.
The program, which gives naming rights to a list of City-owned facilities and hands the money over to the Kamloops Sports Council, was launched in May.

At the program’s spring unveiling, officials estimated it could bring in $350,000 a year for the council, if all the facilities got sponsorship.
City Tournament Capital co-ordinator Sean Smith said Friday the program not gaining as much uptake as expected.
“Nobody’s bought anything yet. It is slower than we hoped it would be. We still have a couple of potential leads out there. We realize it’s probably a bigger commitment for local companies than we might have anticipated,” he said.
