Longview councilman: Sell naming rights for conference center
By Richard Yeakley
Selling naming rights for a proposed city conference center might help defer costs on the building, as one Longview councilman has suggested. District 2 Councilman Gary Smith said during an Oct. 24 council meeting that he thinks the city should consider selling naming rights as a way to waive costs on the proposed 25,500-square-foot conference center building.
The facility is projected to cost the city about $5.5 million in addition to the expense for land and necessary road improvements next to the center.
