Group protests Moda naming rights money

About two dozen protesters carried signs outside the newly named Moda Center before the Blazers home opener against San Antonio Saturday night, upset over the money they say should have gone to health care—not health care marketing. Moda paid $40 million to rename the arena from the Rose Garden.

The protesters wanted the 20,000 fans at the game to think about what the newly named center stands for and how by paying to put their name on the old Rose Garden it’s taking away money that could be put back into creating more affordable patient care. Health Care for All Oregonians wants a health care system that ensures access for all Oregon residents and don’t think privatizing health care is a good thing.
