Frederick city officials are talking about how to rename the Harry Grove Stadium complex to bring in new revenue, without diminishing the Grove family’s role in building the stadium. The city staff is working with the Frederick Keys baseball club to outline how the naming rights would work. Staff presented to the Board of Aldermen on Wednesday a proposal that would amend the city’s contract with the Keys.
The amendment would give the Keys the task of finding and negotiating with a sponsor. The complex could be named “Sponsor” Field at Harry Grove Stadium. The city would get 35 percent of the net profit from the naming fees.
Alderwoman Karen Young said the contract needs to be more specific about the way the complex would be renamed.
