Ash-West schools chief cool to ads at Oakmont Field

WESTMINSTER—Superintendent of Schools Ralph Hicks is unenthusiastic about selling advertising spaces at Oakmont Field after talking to other superintendents about their experiences with advertising. At Tuesday night’s School Committee meeting, Hicks shared what he learned after posing the question to about 200 Massachusetts school superintendents over email. Only seven responded.
“It doesn’t raise as much money as you might think,” Hicks said.
He said all of the responses came from larger districts, most in metropolitan areas. One of those districts is Lunenburg, and Hicks said that town only has advertising space on the football scoreboard.
