Niagara Falls school board talks stadium naming rights
By Timothy Chipp
What’s in a name? This is the question the Niagara Falls School Board is asking after its meeting Thursday night concerning its in-construction athletic fields and new complex being built as part of its $67 million capital improvement project.
More specifically, they’d like to find out if they can sell the naming rights to the arena, in order to bring in some additional revenue. They found out the answer is “maybe.” “There’s been a trend to sell facility naming rights across the country,” school district attorney Angelo Massaro told board members during their discussion. “But I’m unsure if it can be done in New York state.” Massaro said he’ll investigate and report back to the board at or before the next meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday.
