Billboards offer could earn Portage schools $1.7 million over 20 years
Portage Public Schools has an offer from Adams Outdoor Advertising to build five billboards on school properties that could earn the district $1.7 million.
Under the proposal that will be discussed by the Portage school board at its work session Monday night, Adams and the school district would enter into a 20-year agreement for the billboards, paying $75,000 a year with a 10 percent inflationary increase every five years.
In return, Adams would build two billboards along I-94 at Portage Northern High School, one billboard along I-94 at Angling Road Elementary School, one along U.S. 131 at 12th Street Elementary School and one on Shaver Road at Central Elementary School.
