CLARK-PLEASANT’S WISH LIST: $3 million-Plan includes buildings, bleachers, turf

The Clark-Pleasant school district wants to raise more than $3 million from business advertisements to pay for new athletic buildings, bleachers and artificial turf.

A building will be erected for Whiteland Community High School’s soccer field this fall to house a press box, concession stand and restrooms, replacing the picnic table, trailer and portable toilets at the field now. Whiteland will use money it received from Johnson Memorial Hospital earlier this year to start that project but will need more advertising dollars to complete it.

In the spring, a pole barn could be built for baseball and softball teams to use for indoor batting practice.

Whiteland’s athletic director also wants to rip out the high school’s seven-lane track and build a new eight-lane track, swap out the football field’s grass for artificial turf and double the number of football bleacher seats to 5,000.
