ODOT considers naming rights on highways
You’ve heard the question “what’s in a name?” The answer for the Ohio Department of Transportation could be thousands of dollars.
ODOT wants Ohio to become the first state in the country to sell road and bridge naming rights and to commercialize rest stops.
It’s one way of addressing a $1.6 billion transportation funding shortfall. Selling naming rights to interchanges and even rest stop toilets and snack machines could produce as much as $27 million a year.
