Flames of Greed: How the Olympic spirit has been hijacked by commercialism

The Latin motto of the Olympic Games is ‘Citius, altius, fortius’ — faster, higher, stronger. Well, you can throw in another adjective: greedier.
For as the Olympic torch makes its way around the country, the ideals of amateurism and selfless endeavour are gradually being blotted out by the grotesque demands of the Games’ commercial sponsors.
In the latest grubby revelation, it turns out that they have infiltrated the ranks of the 8,000 torchbearers with their own glory-crazed employees.
