Seminole schools to sell ads, sponsorships to raise money

Ads for everything from Sam’s Club stores and Verizon cell phones to Nike shoes and Under Armour sportswear could pop up in Seminole County schools under a plan to raise money for education by selling access to a large market of students, teachers and parents.

School Board members on Tuesday agreed to hire Education Funding Partners, a firm in Golden, Colo., to handle marketing that they hope will bring in money for the financially strapped district. A contract is expected to be signed later this month after final details are worked out.
