Mat-Ab looks at in-school ads as revenue source

The Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District Board of Education is considering allowing advertisements on school facilities as a new revenue source.

During a presentation on the potential revenue source, Roman Oben, Northeast regional director of Advantage 3 (A3), told members of the board the advertisements could bring in as much as $1 million in revenues over a four-year period.

“This has been a goal of the Board of Education and it has been a goal of the superintendent since he arrived here to find alternative revenue sources,” James Strimple, interim business administrator, said. “Monies are tight and school districts are always looking for alternative sources of revenue. This firm helps school districts achieve that.”
