School buses will become rolling billboards

School buses in Grapevine and Colleyville could be sporting a new look soon that is designed to bring extra cash into the schools: paid advertising.
The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation is poised to sign a contract with a specialty advertising firm that could bring in about $30,000 per year to be used for classroom needs.
The Education Foundation, which is an independent non-profit fundraising entity associated with the district, was asked by the district’s Stakeholders’ Economic Action Team (SEAT) cost-saving committee last year to research ways to increase advertising opportunities for corporate sponsors and investigate the bus advertising possibility.
