These Lab Specimens Watch 3-D Television

A  NEW tastefully decorated living room in Manhattan may look like just another high-end home full of iPads, a 3-D television and Xbox gaming console. But this cozy sitting area in the Time Warner Center in New York isn’t in one of the complex’s residential condominiums.

It’s in a laboratory, set up so that researchers can analyze every game played, reality show watched or commercial skipped.

On Wednesday, Time Warner will open its 9,600-square foot media lab, complete with a faux living room, a 47-seat 3-D movie theater — with infrared cameras to record reactions in the dark. It will have a mock grocery store offering magazines and snacks.
