Miami Art Museum Spurns Taxpayers, Sells Naming Rights To Developer Jorge Pérez

Despite the current summit of contemporary artists and art collectors in Miami, the city did not make it onto the Atlantic’s list of most artistic cities in America. Wednesday’s decision by the expanding Miami Art Museum to sell its name to the non-highest bidder may be injuring the city’s art reputation even more.

The museum will be named after developer Jorge Pérez, who has pledged $35 million in cash and art, museum officials announced Friday.
