Malt Liquor Wraparound Ads Removed From Philadelphia Buses
Ads for malt liquor that were wrapped around two buses will be removed, the city’s main transit agency announced Wednesday.
Two buses run by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority displayed the ads for Colt 45 brand malt liquor. SEPTA said it was getting rid of those ads in response to community concerns.
Community activists have long decried the sale of malt liquor, which is similar to regular beer but with an alcohol content as high as eight percent and often sold in 40-ounce bottles.
SEPTA says alcohol advertising has generated almost $600,000 in the first half of 2007.
