Boston's T Mulls Selling Naming Rights Of Stations

Gillette’s South Station? The Dunkin’ Donuts Station at Park Street? Names similar to those may soon be appearing a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority system map.

The MBTA said it is looking to boost profits, and one option is selling the naming rights for everything from the subway stations to the bus systems to the Charlie Cards.

The Boston Herald reported that more than 80 consultants have shown an interest in working on the project.

The deadline for proposals is Wednesday.

The MBTA is trying to close a budget gap for fiscal year 2013 that is expected to exceed $137 million. It hopes to raise about $250,000 through naming rights.
