Internet/Social Media

Although the Internet and social media tools can be important sources of information, communication, expression, they are also a prime space for advertisers. Advertisers uses the Internet and social media to target certain groups, including children, ethnic and racial minorities, and parents. Often it is difficult to distinguish editorial content and advertising on websites and in social media postings. Full disclosure of paid content is needed to ensure that consumers are not misled. We are fighting to ensure that consumers can use these tools without being constantly assaulted by commercial advertisers - or at least with full knowledge of when they are being advertised to.
